Lincoln County Firefighter’s MeetingCanton Fire DepartmentWednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, 7:30 p.m.  Meeting called to order by President Jayme Adrian at 7:30 p.m.Treasurer’s Report of $1,004.36 was approved.Minutes of previous meeting read, had 2 minor corrections, then were approved.  OLD BUSINESS:    Lennox used the hose tester and found out that the gauge was bad. The gauge has been replaced and is now working.   We still do not have any reflective signs for the county trailers.    All that attended the hybrid vehicle class in Worthing said it was worthwhile.   Todd said the battery backup on the north tower has been fixed.   Flow testing of the Mesa’s can be done by Fireguard for $40. Takes about ½ hour/pack.   Discussion on the requirements of the reflective vests. Harold thinks that the requirement to wear them is still in effect.  A reminder to everyone to be cautious whenever working on a roadway.   Nate said that Springfield doesn’t have any certified welders to build a smokehouse. Will see if someone else could do the welding and have Springfield do the rest.      NEW BUSINESS:   Harold gave an update on the 2008 grant funding. Lincoln County received $110,000. He will inform us when the next grant applications are open.   Grant said that communications in the Tea area needs attention. Harold will check on the possibilities of truck repeaters. He said extenders will work on UHF radios and would cost approximately $1,000 each installed. Nate will get prices from 2-Way.   Ron Straatmeyer gave an update on the Nov. 19 search near Worthing.   Russ discussed putting on a Certified Firefighter class with classes being rotated to different departments throughout the county. Any interest, contact Russ.   Tea will begin Certified Firefighter classes in Jan. of 2009.   Harold said that Ron went through the Worthing cascade system and it works well.   Discussed rotating the county cascade trailer around the county.   Motion made to adjourn and was seconded. Motions carried.    Meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.      Next Meeting to be in Fairview, Jan. 21, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.   Minutes by Dave Daale, Assistant Chief, Fairview Fire Department
