Lincoln County Firefighter’s MeetingWorthing Fire DepartmentWednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, 7:30 p.m. Meeting called to order by President Jamie Adrian at 7:30 p.m.Treasurer’s Report of approximately $1,075 was approved.(Exact balance is $1,094.36)Minutes of previous meeting approved as read. OLD BUSINESS: Harold received hose tester. Worthing tested it and it worked well. It will be stored at Worthing and will have a checkout sheet and instructions with it. Contact Harold or Worthing department to check it out. Discussed that the county trailers do not need additional lighting because they are not to exceed speed limits while in route. Jamie recommended additional reflective tape and also “stay back 500 feet” lettering on both trailers. Brenda informed us that Lennox’s first responder classes are still pending. Jamie reported on the hybrid vehicle class held at district school in Gayville. He will contact Darrell Hartman from Brookings to put this class on sometime in October for all fire and ambulance departments in the county. Worthing had a fair turnout for the July water shuttle. Discussed possible water shuttle sometime next spring. Discussion on firehouse. Hopefully can get an estimate for construction from Springfield. Communications update from Todd: There is money budgeted for a new central repeater. He is negotiating a map pointing system which would have the ability to pinpoint hazardous materials storage, etc. and also the ability to draw out evacuation parameters. He stated that a battery backup for the repeaters failed during a recent power outage. Digital outreach is still a mess. Harold stated that all the generators are working properly. NEW BUSINESS: Harold informed us that all vehicles will need reflective cones and personnel will need reflective vests when operating on State or Federal highways, effective October 27. Paul informed us that all MSA SCBA’s need annual flow tests. Rural Metro will test for $65.00. Worthing pancake feed will be Oct. 5th from 9:00 am till 1:00 pm. Motion made to adjourn and was seconded. Motions carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m. Next Meeting to be in Canton, Nov. 19, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Minutes by Dave Daale, Assistants Chief, Fairview Fire Department
